How to Get a Freelancer Visa in Dubai in 2025

If you want the freedom and flexibility of managing your own time, then freelancing is the right path for you. Whether you want to do marketing; consulting; finance; media; IT or social media, getting a freelancer visa has never been easier. There are different options available to you, and the pricing varies depending on the option that you choose (AED 8,500 – AED 15,500), you can get your residence visa, work permit and emirates ID by either applying directly with the DED or you can go through one of the visa companies to help you with this process. I strongly recommend FreelancerVisa.com, they provide great service.

The process is quite straight forward:

  1. Submit Application: complete the application form and submit it together with the required documents and payment, you will need to choose your visa designation and your expected monthly salary (this will depend on your field and industry). You will need to stay in-country during the visa process.
  2. Labour Contract: A Labour Contract is registered with the Ministry of Labour indicating your designation and salary. The minimum amount is AED 1 per month.
  3. e-Visa Issuance: The authorities will do a security background check, and an electronic visa is issued after approval.
  4. Medical Insurance: It’s recommended to choose a comprehensive medical insurance.
  5. Medical Fitness Test: This test is mandatory and is conducted at an authorized testing centre. The results take up to 7 days to received.
  6. Visa Stamping and Emirates ID: Emirates ID registration is required for first time VISA holders. Visa stamping takes 5 – 7 working days after receiving the medical results. Your Emirates ID will be issued within 10 days of the visa stamping.
